Clara was selected to GB squad, following her Cardiff club member, Charlotte Arter, dropping out of GB squad with injury.

Clara had  finished 3rd in 72.21 in Antrim Half Marathon on 12th September, beating GB squad member for World Half Marathon Championships. Hence her selection to GB squad.

Clara Evans (Chris Jones)

Clara fully justified her selection place by finishing 65th in 73.11  being 3rd GB squad member to finish race. Becky Briggs 64th was 3 secs in front of Clara, who beat Becky in Antrim Half Marathon.

To come from racing in a high quality British race in Antrim, to racing in World class race, that World record time was broken, is a huge jump in standards of competition, that whole experience. Clara should have confidence to aim for marathon place in Welsh team for Commonwealth Games in 2022.

Congratulations Clara , well deserved race result.

While Jake Smith has risen quickly to top in UK male endurance running.

U20 Clara started running in 5K and 10K Road races. U23. Clara joined Pontypridd/Hereford, while at Glamorgan Uni. Clara ran 10m and HM races in 66.42 10m 91.10 HM. In 2017 Clara joined Cardiff for track on Higher Claim status, in 2018 joined Cardiff /Herford. Current pb PR 16.02. 10k 33.07. 10m 57.44. HM 72.21. Marathon 2.40.03.

Clara’s progress in athletics is a good example for younger members of club, there are no GB vests in U13 age group. If young athletes are prepared to progress through age groups, enjoying athletics, and making friends, they can with their support groups, achieve a high standard at senior level.
