WORLD HALF MARATHON CHAMPIONSHIPS  (Gydnia) POLAND 17^th October 2020.

Cardiff’s runners Jake Smith and Clara Evans, did themselves, and our club proud, with their race results in Poland last Saturday.

After his March Trial race, when Jake qualified for GB team. The UK lockdown started, that ceased all competitions for athletes, Jake kept himself fit.

In August he did a time trial 10k at Tonypandy’s new track in 28.00. (29.01pb)

His running house mates, did even paced laps to achieve above time.

On 5^th September in British Championships, Sports City Manchester. His first race since March.

Jake finished 4^th in 13.47.91 pb by over 12 secs. Showed he was in good shape, for Half Marathon in Poland.

Congratulations to Jake who had an outstanding result finishing 18^th in 60.31, a personal best by 89 seconds, placing him 3^rd on 2020 UK ranking list for Half Marathon. And new British record for U23M.

He was 3^rd European runner to finish, and led the British team home.

Jake at 22yrs, has a bright future in British endurance running.
