Welsh schools at Leckwith Stadium this weekend saw many fantastic results by Cardiff athletes competing for their schools regions. This competition is harder than the Welsh Championships because you have pupils who don’t normally compete in athletics creating that unknown athlete factor.
Lewis Stephens won the U17 100m running 11.24s.
Kay Asiya Placide won with a seasons best 100m U20W. She also came 2nd in 100m hurdles
Largo Parish ran a PB in 400hurdkes finishing 2nd.
Tomas Provis had a PB in theU15 200m finishing 3rd.
Jemma Robinson came 2nd in 200m U20W with a PB.
Jemma Robinson finished 2nd with a PB in her 400m.
A number of Cardiff athletes were in the U15 800m, Harry Turner finishing 3rd in 2.10.70 a PB. Just behind Tomas Zdavies who came 2nd. And Finley Saycell finished 5th with a PB.
Ellen Eirys James came 2nd in her 800m with a PB.
U17 800m race saw Anna Rose Merchant run clear of the field by winning by some distance.
Josh Sanders won the U17 1500m running 4.26.02.
Gwenno Goode finished 2nd on the U20 1500m.
Millie Gold came 2nd in the 1500m running a time 4.46.71
Aharon Graham- Mulvaney had a successful weekend clearing 4m in the pole vault to win. And running 59.92 s in the 400m hurdles. Both being PB’s.
Anais Shepperd ran a personal best to win the U15 300m just outside the Championships best time.
Joseph James finished 4th in 1500mSC in a personal best time..
High jump saw Jacob Mace jump 1.70 to finish 3rd in the U20 competition.
Ben Vincent had a seasonal best in the Long jump jumping 6.20m.
Gabby Dickinson won the senior long jump with a jump of 5.16m..
Salem Mbimu-Kiambi won the TJ jumping 12.25m in the Middle school age group.
Joseph Phillips had a jump of 10.80m t a PB to finish 2nd. This jump was wind assisted but he also jumped 10.71 which was not in the junior boys age group.
Francesca Morgan won the middle girls TJ jumping 10.68m. Lowry Windsor had a PB in the same competition.
Eurion John won the Middle schools Discus and had a second place in the javelin.
Sonny McCabe had a PB in the junior hammer competition to win. Rhys Lewis came 3rd with a PB.
