Commonwealth Games have come to an end with a fantastic closing ceremony.
Cardiff athletes competing for Team Wales were brilliant with some fantastic performances.
Aled Davies once more showing how great he is in the discus won gold with a Games Record.
Jake Heyward and Jeremiah Azu run personal bests in their events. Events which had athletes that were truly world class.
Lauren Evans finished 7th in a competitive heptathlon with 5209 points. She finished strongly in the 800m the final event.
Jac Palmer threw 66.63m in the hammer to finish 11th.
Bethan Davies came in 6th in the 10000m walk with a seasons best.
Clara Evans came 9th in the marathon running strongly in the final few kilometres to get a seasons best time.
Jenny Nesbitt came 12th in 5000m in a large competitive field.
Charlotte Wingfield reached the semifinals of 200m running for Malta
Congratulations to all our club Commonwealth Games athletes representing the club in a positive manner.
The Cardiff Athletics stars of tomorrow’s were in action in the UK Development League Upper Midland Promotion Match at Aberdare. It’s important to support the club in these team events that provide top class competitions as many of the young athletes that took part in this meeting did to so with pride with some fantastic performances. Many doing additional events to help the points score as there were gaps in the team.
Aharon Graham- Mulvaney had a busy day collecting a number of PB’s. In the 400m he ran 53.3s. He had a PB in the Long jump jumping 5.77m and shot throwing 11.39m
There were wins in the U20 100m and 200m for Louis Thorne with a seasons bests
Alex Azu won his 100m race.
Salem Mbtimu-Kiambi had another busy day with 2nd in U17 100. Salem won the triple jump and the shot put wil a PB throw of 12.38m
Jessica Mantle and Molly Type had second places in their 100m
Morgan Hubbarde won the U20 200m with a PB of 22.2s
Lewis Stephens had a PB in his 200m running 22.9s
Harri Postlewaite came first in U17 B race 200m. Harri finished 2nd in 400m
Jemima Robinson won her 200m race. She ran a PB in the 400m running 60.4s
Grace Richardson came 2nd in her 200 A race. Emma Shepperd had a PB 27.4 s in the B race.
Millie Webb won the U17 300m A race .
Maddison Gregory came 3rd in the B race. She ran a PB in 300m hurdles finishing second. Madison also finished second in the discus.
Rhys Herdman was well clear in his 400m wiinning in a PB time of 52.6s.
Anna -Rose Merchant ran a PB finishing first in the 400m B race..
Lloyd Shepperd Brown came second in the U20 800m with a PB time of 1.59.8s. But he won the 1500m.
Stefan Mason- Smith won the B 1500 race in a PB time of 5.27.2s
Elen Eiys James won her 800 U 20 race. Kara Bennet was second in the U17 800m.
Freya Hughes-Rolls had a busy day running a seasons best in 800m. She also competed in a number of field events. She finished 4 th in the shot and 1st in the discus with a PB throw of 23.65m
Anna-Rose Merchant ran a PB in her 1500m in a time of 4.51.5s and Kara Bennet had a season best in the B race.
Oliver Price ran a PB in the 3000m a clear winner.
Ella Mitchell came third in 80m hurdles and 4th in 300m hurdles.
Ben Hillier won the 110m hurdles. Ben has a seasons best in the High jump jumping 1.80m and a 3rd place in the javelin.
Lily Gregson won the discus and finished second in the javelin.
Eurion John won the long jump, discus and javelin.
Jacob Mace won the B pool of the U20 High jump.
Megan Hastings won the U20W high jump.
Ben Vincent came 3rd in the long jump.
Relays had mixed results U20 men and women 4x100m came 3rd. U17 women also came 3rd. The U17 4x100m men team came second. As did the U20M,U 20W and U17W 4x300m
Well done great enough by all taking part in this event.
