CARDIFF ATHLETICS UPDATE

Covid Pandemic

Lockdown, started week ending 21st March 2020. Our Club was closed down, together with businesses, schools, transport, and all organized sports. Strict rules were enforced, in order to control spread of infections, and vacinations commenced.

In autumn 2020 a Firebreak Lockdown, of 2 weeks took place, it was not effective.

Another Lockdown took place from, 21^ST December 2020 till 19^th April 2021.

Limited access to training with strict Covid rules, and numbers were allowed to start,

from late April 2021 at CISC stadium. Our club office, and room were unavailable.

Consequences to Club

Over the last 18 months of Pandemic Cardiff Athletics (as other amateur clubs) has lost athletes, coaches, officials, team managers, club canteen closed, all were volunteers.

1. a) Athletes lost incentive to train, with no competitions available.
2. b) Some coaches retired, due to no organized coaching allowed.
3. c) Officials were lost due to no competitions taking place.

This summer, a limited competitive season commenced in May, with main competitions taking place from end of July, through August, and early September. Many club teams were depleted in terms of athlete competing, and lack of Team managers.

Number of officials available, besides club, also Welsh fixtures & Championships to cover.

The past summer club has been functioning, with few people involved in the organisation of teams, officials and events.

The Club needs your Help!!

The club are looking for volunteers for all areas in the club from:

Team Managers

Coaches

Canteen Team Members

General Volunteers

Track and Field officials

New Committee Members

Treasurer 

Media 

As a result the club didnt have anyone to update and manage the website, thus the lack of updated information on the clubs amazing success during a very difficult period. The club will now be back date posts so the athletes success is highlighted and recorded.

If anyone has been a past club member, or interested in athletics, and would like to give some help within our club, please step forward. As they say every little helps.
