Welsh Championships U13,U17 and U20 at Newport
Lovely to see Newport track back in full use for competitions. The Welsh Championships took place over one of the hottest weekends this year. Some fantastic performances athletic performances came from Cardiff athletes in extreme hot conditions.
One of the best championship performances came from Reagan McCarthy winning the 100m U13 12.12 a clear winner.  But In his heat Reagan ran 12.04 for a Championships record and Welsh age best. Reagan was a clear winner in the 200m.
Anna Rose Merchant ran a PB in the U17 800m recording a time of 2.16.35, four seconds ahead of the second place.
Bryony Boyce had a great run in U13 1500m winning by over 30 seconds recording a time of 4.55.28. And Isobel Davies finished 3rd in the same race in 5.33.02s a PB.
Lloyd Shepperd Brown was the first Welsh man home in the U20 1500m
U17men 1500m was a competitive race which saw Cian Harold finish 5th in a PB time of 4.19.52. Ivan also had a PB in the 800m.
U20W 800m saw a one two for Moli Lyons and Elen James respectively.
Jacob Reynolds was the third welsh athlete home in the U20M 800.
3000m U17 saw Mabli Phillips come second with a time of 10.37.78.
Anais Shepperd finished second in the 300m recording a time of 41.61 and Millie Webb was just behind to finish third.
IsobelThomas won the U20 pole vault.
Lewis Stephens came second in  the U17 200m
Aharon Graham-Mulvaney had another busy day with great performances. He won the 400hurdles in a time of 58.84 ahead of the U20. He was a clear winner in the U17 pole vault. Aharon also finished 4th in the 200m
Louis Thorne was placed third in the U20 200m.
Ava Hughes-Rolls went home with a clutch of medals. She was second in the discus with a throw of 23.67. She was second in the javelin with 22.07m. And she finished third in the shot with 7.76m .
Ava-Lexi Placide came first in 70 m hurdles in a time 11.52 and came 3rd in U13 100m recording a time of 13.63
U20 Women’s 100m saw Kay Asiya Placide finish second in 12.57s and Sadie Graham-Mulvaney came third in 12.61s. Sadie had a second place in the triple jump with 10.81m
Morgan Hubbarde finished third in the U20 men’s race.
U17’s Discus competition saw Eurion John take the title with a throw of  38.80m. He was also second in the javelin throwing 41.29m
Leon Gregson came third in the javelin with a fantastic throw of 37.14m.
Lily Gregson was the first Welsh thrower in the U20 discus.
Amber Rayner had a 3rd place in U13 Long jump with a jump of 4.15. She had a 5th place in the 70m hurdles and was 8th in the high jump..

Weekend Round up 14th August 
There were a number of competitions involving Cardiff Athletes prior to the weekend.
Cardiff throws meeting in Aberdare saw a number of great performances by Cardiff athletes.
Eurion John threw a PB in the discus launching it 38.65m to win the event. And winning the javelin with a throw of 37.37m
Jack O’Keefe first first in his discus throwing a PB of 26.79m and second in the javelin.
In the U13 women’s discus saw PB’ for Ava John and Ava Hughes-Rolls, finishing First with 21.90m and second 20.22m  respectively.
Freya Hughes-Rolls came second in the discus and javelin.
The two Ava’s also competed in the javelin with their positions were reversed.
Ava Hughes-Rolls winning and Ava John second with a personal best of 16.95m
BMC meeting at Watford saw Rhiannon Linington-Payne running another personal best in the 800m recording a time of 2.05.78 to finish 2nd.
