Peter joined Cardiff AAC in 1981 as an interested parent. He was soon roped in to helping coach a small group of youngsters young sprinters while the club was still based at Maindy StadiumWhen Dave Gotts left Peter took responsibility for the main sprinters group, and progressed up the coaching ladder to level3Pete expanded the group to seniors nd over the years has coached innumerable Welsh internationalsHe has also been responsible for developing British Internationals Helen Miles and Tim  Benjamin who was also an Olympic competitor (400m  and relay) and Mica Moore who was a member of the of the British 2 women Bob sleigh team at the last Olympic winter games. More recently he has coached Kya Placide who has joined Mica in the British number 1 Bob in the World SeriesPete has taken on administrative post and has led the club as chairman on two occasionsHe has proved to be an excellent team manager with very good personal skills that gets the  best from the team which has been recognised by Welsh Athletics and the South Wales region who have been grateful to appoint Peter to lead their teamsPeter’s contribution to our sport has been recognised by Welsh Athletics with both the meritorious award (2008) and the Award of Honour (2017)There will be many members past and present,who will have reasons to be grateful to Peter Lane
