The Cardiff XChallenge took place last Saturday at Llandaff Fields, with big fields in the senior races, and increased numbers taking part in the younger age groups. Photo by Paul Stillman, shows Charlotte Arter leading the field going into the last lap. Jenny Nesbitt is just behind Charlotte. Jenny finished 2nd at end of race. Charlotte was a clear winner moving away from a quality field of senior women runners, and a good confidence boost for the rest of her XC season. Jenny Nesbitt also an excellent performance. Except for one section of mud, the course was in good condition. Cardiff ladies team must have won the team race, with great backup from, see below.
Clara Evans 12th, Megan Carter-Davies 16th, Rebecca Evans 28th. The team results in the XChallenge showed Aberystwyth AC as winning team. This must be combining Seniors and Masters age groups in race? No matter, when Gwent League senior results are posted, we will have a better picture of club team results.
The event was organised by British Athletics and Welsh Athletics, who were pleased with the massive turn out of runners at the Cardiff Cross Challenge. There were plenty of exciting races to see for the watching spectators.
Will do a separate report on the XChallenge Men's race, then the Gwent League results, when senior age groups are posted.
Welsh Athletics posted on their web site. Cardiff Athletics dominate first Gwent League Fixture.
