CARDIFF ATHLETES in UK & USA

A number of athletes competed last weekend, all were elite athletes who are allowed to train, in/on local facilities. Standards were high in a SAFE environment, all had obtained GB vests, with European Indoor Championships taking place in Poland next month.

it was an opportunity to gain GB qualifying times.

Although better off than athletes not in Elite status, they maybe fit, but lack races, to get race fit.

Cardiff athletes took part in two separate indoor events at Loughborough and Manchester on same date 13^th February. Cardiff runners also competed in USA Indoor events, in various States.

Jeremiah Azu U23 took part in mens 60m sprint event, he had the 5^th fastest time of 6.84.

A good start to his 2021 season.

Bygengen Sports Indoor Invitational Meeting  13^th February

Event held in the Sportscity (Manchester).

A number of Cardiff senior athletes took part.

Owen Smith SM had 5^th fastest time of day heats 400m 47.76.

Owen won his heat race, a good start to his 2021 season.

Ieuan Thomas SM was 4^th in 3000m 8.00.56.

Ieuan found himself in a strong field of 3000m runners.

Nevertheless he should be happy with his start to his 2021 season.

Charlotte Arter SW was 2^nd in a fast womens 3000m 9.00.78.  

Charlotte was 0.78 off the qualifying standard for European Indoor Championships.

It was Charlotte’s fastest time since 2019. Charlotte must happy with 2^nd place.

Pittsburg, Kansas Gorilla Classic  13^th February

Elliot Slade SM  800m 1^st 1.50.89 Eliot posted a video on FB that showed him leading race at bell.

Elliot Academy of Art, held onto win by 0.66.  A 1.47pb it was his fastest time since 2018.

Elliot seem like he’s been around for ages, but he’s still a young man, one of life’s characters.

Bethan Evans U23 800m 5^th 2.23.66 ( 2.16.28 pb)

This event was Bethan’s 3^rd Indoor race this season.

Elliot Richards SM 3000m 4^th 8.29.98pb
