Congratulations to Jac Palmer who has had that special phone call from Team Wales. So Jac Palmer is heading to the Commonwealth Games in Manchester to compete in the Hammer Competition .
Coached by his father Adrian who too was a long servant to Cardiff Athletics and who was also a hammer thrower. Adrian lost his 25 year club record of 62.56m to Jac when he threw 70.01m in 2019.
Jac used come down to the old athletic stadium where his dad trained with his grandfather. Jac started throwing there with at an early age with a hammer made by his grandfather. It was a special hammer because they didn’t make hammers for children that small. Jac would copy his dad’s technique often throwing as a left hand thrower and right hand thrower. It was clear that he would take up the event.
Jac has competed in the hammer through all age group which saw him represent Great Britain at the European Winter Throws cup. He was English U23 champion 2 years running.
Apparently the call up is a special moment for him, representing “Tim Cymru” is such a honour and he will be wearing the Draig Goch with pride.
Jac can’t wait to represent his country on a world stage.
Congratulations to Adrian and the Palmer family for the development and support they have given Jac over the years resulting in Jac’s selection.
