Track competitions have started . Many Cardiff athletes have taken the opportunity to compete around the UK and the world.
Locally the Cardiff Junior Park run saw 1,2,3,4..Alfie Osbourne came in first. Harry Osbourne second followed by Jack Stewart. Fourth but the first girl home was Eva Martin. Well done to all.
Just over the border at Yate saw a number of Cardiff Throwers taking part.
Fiona Palmer came second with a seasons best in the senior women’s hammer.
In the senior men’s javelin saw Jason Copsey finish first with a seasons best of 61.69m and Rhys Barkley was second with 48.99m also a seasons best.
Dan McKerlich has a seasons best in his walking race this weekend. The course was quite difficult a walking courses but Dan walked well and showed he is in good shape.
A number of Cardiff athletes took part in the Swansea Open.
Dafydd Herdman came first in the senior men’s shot with a throw of 11.12m
Charlie Goodwin was first F38 and third in the senior competitions
Lily Gregson U20 came second in the Senior Discus.
Victor Zhang came second in his 100m race and Eli Onyewu won his senior men’s race.
Eurion John was third in the U 17 Discus. Dafydd won the senior men’s discus with Charlie was third in the senior men’s discus but first F38.
Brian Dias was first in the M35 discus .
Ava John had a great run in the U13 100 finishing 4th. And she finished first in the discus with a throw of 18.43m.
Yasmin Hadid won a competitive the U17 800m.
Osian Phillips had a great run finishing second in the U11 800m.
Leon Gregson won the U17 high jump with a jump of 1.70m finishing 3rd overall in the senior men’s event.
In America James Heneghan ran 1,500m finishing 6th in 3.42.4s
Charlotte Arter and Jenny Nesbitt took part in the 5000m on a beautiful California evening. Jenny finished 2nd with a PB. This is the second time Jenny has run the Commonwealth Games Standard. Charlotte finished 5th just outside the Commonwealth Standard.
In Berlin Clara Evans competed in the half marathon. She finished 8th overall improving her previous best by nearly 2 min. Her time of 70.17s puts her 2nd on the Welsh All Time list.
In Manchester Dan Nash had a fantastic run to finish 5th in 2:15:30. Which is a massive personal best.
